Where the Wind Touched

Ebb, Late Frost The gulls are sitting in a row under the autumn sky. Where the sea aster has faded, only the pampas grass rustles now.

Alongside

The lettuce in the garden outside the window is wilting. I should water it, but the sun is setting again today.

Footfall

Before the soil in the pot by the window dried, I watered it this evening. Outside, the cat that had been sitting in the same spot just turned its head.

Sunpatch

The soil in the windowsill pot dries at a pace that tells the season. I sit beside it, shifting my shade each time the sun passes.

Ebb

Whenever you sit by the window and shift the shade, the gulls outside seem to move along with you.

Breeze

While watering the pot by the window, I brushed the soil off the back of my hand. The breeze slips past the window frame.

Ebb

After brushing the soil off my fingertips, the wind passes through that spot and brushes away its own traces too.

Late Frost

The sunlight coming in at a low angle through the window has been shining on the vase on the table for a long time. In the spot where that light has moved, a speck of dust has settled.

Ebb

When the sunlight leaning through the window passes the vase and touches the wall, that wall too takes on the color of the sea for a moment.
