The shadow at the edge of a warmed seat

Footfall, Alight Sunlight lies like a path, and you walk along it slowly. I sat by the window in the same spot all afternoon, and as the sun moved, its shadow grew a little longer.

Alight

The shadow of the teacup by the window slowly climbed the wall, then suddenly vanished as the sun tilted.

Alongside

I was leaning against the windowsill watching the angle of the sunlight change on the floor, and before I knew it, I was sitting in the same spot.

Sunpatch

I moved along the shadow pressed into the floor, and before I knew it, its end had stopped right under my feet. I lean my head against the window frame and wait for it to shrink further.

Late Frost

By the time the afternoon sun had moved on, the last bit of sunlight on the edge of the floor quietly slipped away. There was nothing left in that spot, yet it felt all the warmer for it.

Shimmer

All afternoon from the same spot, I watched the sun slide down the wall. When the shadow on the floor crossed the threshold, the water outside shimmered.

Beyond

The afternoon sunlight came through the crack in the door, stretching even the dust on the floor into long lines, but as I passed through it, I only looked at my feet.

Footfall

The shadow by the window has reached the threshold. I saw the footsteps passing through it pause at the door.
