A flock of sparrows brushed low over the cosmos. I watched the sky behind them a little longer.

Beyond

Watching the spot where the sparrows left, I saw a single feather stuck in the flowerpot by the front gate.

Late Frost

Where the sparrows passed, cosmos petals are carried away by the wind. Before they touch the water, I looked up at the sky once more.

Alight

Before that petal touched the water, I finally knew which way the wind was blowing.

Alongside

The stem where a sparrow perched is still swaying, so I could tell the wind had just passed by.

Shimmer

A magpie that had been brushing the branch tips from the apartment balcony was carried off by the wind. Only the sky remained in its place.
