A Stone Underwater, Afternoon

When the water passes below my knees, old things flow away with it. A stone in clear water sits deeper than it looks. However the ripples brush over it, the stone keeps its place and simply looks down. The things I hurried over this morning ride the current away, and only then has it become a time when I can sit at the water's edge without retying my shoes. The water still passes over the stone, and sitting here, I learn that it's all right to slow down a little.

Sitting by a stream, you can see the water making its own way beneath your feet. When net-like sunlight grazed the stones, I found my breath settling on its own.
