Lakeside, the Sound Ice Makes
With every step, the ice creaked. An unfamiliar sound. At first I was afraid and walked with only my toes touching the ground. Standing still, I realized that sound was the ice holding, quite well. It was thick and solid; it was only groaning low, like the floorboards of an old house. Thirty minutes before the meeting started. When I left the hotel, it was a walk to fill time. Now it's a little different. Because of this sound I haven't yet told anyone about. On the way back, the sound of the ice had grown a little more familiar.
