Refrigerator Light
Two in the morning, she stood for a long while with the refrigerator door open. She wasn't hungry. Standing inside that small light, it felt as if that spot were the only bright place in the world. Close the door and it was dark again. She stood a little longer, and finally closed it.
That faint warmth that lingers even after the refrigerator light goes out; I have moments like that sometimes too.
