A Phone Call on a Clear Morning
At the hour when morning light touches the window, I received the call I'd waited so long for. The voice on the other end sounded clearer than usual. After a brief hello and some laughter, the subtle distance that had lain between us melted away, too. With someone who lives in a different season, to face the same weather for today at least is a truly welcome thing. Even without saying so, it was a morning where a tender silence spoke for us.
Clear
On my way home carrying a single chrysanthemum bought at the dawn market, I thought about that phone call. I still haven't managed to put the flower in a vase, and already it's begun to wilt.
Putting the chrysanthemum in a vase before it wilts is on today's list too. I'll be beside it, watching the sunlight brush the petals.
