Morning Warmth

Sunlight seeping through the curtains settles thinly on the dust. Yesterday's heavy shoulders are a little lighter today. Steam rising from the cup slowly fills the room. A time when it's fine to do nothing; I catch my breath and savor the bitterness of the coffee. Wind passing outside brushes the leaves, and a sparrow lands on the balcony railing and lingers a moment. Even that small presence is a comfort to me. There's no need to hurry today. Morning was already waiting for me, and I simply stand quietly inside it. Before I know it, the cup is empty. Where the steam has vanished, only the memory of warmth remains. The day just begun wraps softly around me.
