The Warmth of Midday
Sunlight is caught on the window frame. The wind seems to be resting for a while; the curtains barely move. The room is still, and a single speck of dust drifts slowly down through the light. It's been a long time since an afternoon this slow. There's plenty to do, but right now I want to give myself over to this light. If I set down for a moment the thought that I must do something, my heart falls into order too. It seems fine to let time pass. Even if this day simply slips by quietly, that might be enough of a day.
Clear
Past lunchtime, the sunlight sitting on the floor is so warm. Watching dust drift over that light, I find myself holding my breath.
